Rule of the Wicked is an analysis of whether or not wicked leaders have the authority to govern the people of God, under ordinary circumstances.  This teaching confronts the modern notion that anyone, regardless of their beliefs, should be permitted to seek political power in government.  While this is not permitted in communist countries, or countries governed by Islam, somehow it has become the standard in the post-World War II Western world, that is historically Christian. In the Bible, there were certain periods where heathen kings were given power over the nation of Israel, but this usually happened as a form of punishment for the sins of the people.  In 2 Samuel 23:3 we read: “… He that ruleth over men must be just, ruling in the fear of God.” Meanwhile, the book of Proverbs says that “when the wicked beareth rule, the people mourn.”  (Proverbs 29:2) Learn how Christian teachers in history have viewed the authority of ungodly leaders in government.
